And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— Colossians 1:21-22 (NKJV)

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NIV)

When Jesus died on the cross, he died first spiritually and then physically. Through salvation, we become a new creature spiritually but our soul and our physical body are the same ones we had prior to this occurrence. Jesus paid the price for every sickness and disease both physically and psychologically.

Our body is the domicile for our spirit and our soul functions for our spirit. The reason Apostle Paul used the word ‘may’ in 1 Thessalonians 5:23 is very instructive because it lets us know that it is not automatic or a foregone conclusion. Although Jesus made it possible to be ‘kept blameless’ it is not His prerogative to make it happen; it’s ours.

Remember He has already presented us ‘holy, blameless and above reproach’. He did it as our Great High Priest shedding His blood on the mercy seat in the temple not made with hands.

In other words, He did it in our hearts. This is where He offered His blood through the eternal Spirit not in some temple up in heaven somewhere. There is actually no scriptural premise for that idea. So spiritually speaking, we have been presented before the Father as ‘holy, blameless and above reproach.’ This is the current state of every believer ‘in His sight’.

Simply put, this is what God sees for your life and therefore that is the reality of the matter. The question now is, do you see what God sees and call things what God calls them.

2 Corinthians 5:17b says old things are passed away behold or see, all things are become new’. God already sees all things are new about your life but one question remains. Do you?

Your answer to that question will determine the outcome of your life in regards to your body and your soul. These are the parts of you that only you have the power, ability and authority to control.

You are a free moral agent and as such have the right to choose what you will endorse as reality in your life. God’s word or someone else’s. Your mind is the gateway to your will and emotions. The habits created by repetitive thoughts have a direct effect on your attitudes and actions.

Only the renewing of our minds with the word of God can change our way of thinking and consequently our actions (Romans 12:2). Again, this can only be done with our permission and participation. The ball is literally in our court when it comes to our souls and bodies being kept blameless until the coming of the Lord.

What does this look like in practical terms? Keeping your body blameless is speaking wellness health over your body and refusing to accommodate any sickness or disease in your body. Laying hands on your body and commanding it to ‘be healed’ when there are unwanted symptoms in your system.

In terms of your soul, it is agreeing with what God says about you now you are in Christ. Don’t say ‘I’m confused’ rather say ‘I have a sound mind’. Maybe you feel timid. Start declaring that you are bold. Bring your will into line by subjecting it to the word of God. Be like David who said ‘soul, praise the Lord’ or ‘I will bless the Lord at all times’.

Your thoughts affect your words. Your words affect your attitudes. Your attitudes affect your actions. Your actions affect your character.

Keep it all blameless. You’re the only one who can.
