And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: Colossians 1:21-22 NKJV

For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Romans 5:10 (NIV)

How does God see you? Your answer to this question will determine how you see others no matter who you are or where you come from.

Before we explore this further, it’s important that we clarify some of the terms in our text verses. Let me first say this;‘God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.’

The phrases ‘Sometime alienated’, ‘enemies in our minds’ and ‘God’s enemies’ has never been from God’s perspective as He never alienated anyone or considered any human being to be his enemy. This is the misunderstanding when we carry a sin consciousness and are confused about God’s intrinsic nature of goodness and righteousness.

‘He has reconciled in the body of his flesh’ and reconciled to him through the death of his son’… The word reconcile is ‘katallasso’ in Greek. It has several meanings. ‘To restore a relationship to a state of harmony which changes enmity to friendship, removes the barrier of sin and the establishment of peace.

The question arises then who has been reconciled? The answer lies in another question. Who did Jesus die for? Everyone. Why? Because Jesus sacrifice saved and reconciled everybody whether or not they accept the sacrifice and the reconciliation is another matter entirely.

Then we have the phrase ‘holy, unblameable and unreprovable.’ Three Greek words. Holy is ‘hagios’, which means a saint. Unblameable ‘amomo’ means unblemished, spotless and faultless. Unreprovable, ‘anenkletos’ means cannot be called to account or beyond reproach. This is mind blowing when you fully comprehend the ramifications.

In the mind of justice legally, everybody is ‘holy, unblameable and unreprovable in God’s sight.’ That being said, it is only those that receive salvation that are vitally saved as they receive resurrection life. Jesus righteousness is the lens through which the Father views every person.

So how does God see you? Holy, unblameable and unreprovable in his sight. How do you see you? I hope in the same way. How should you see others? I think you know the answer.

APPLICATION

Make up your mind to see yourself and others through the finished work of the cross and mirror the character of Jesus who didn’t come to condemn the world but to save it.
