But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts 1:8 (NKJV)
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)
A revelation that never ceases to amaze me in the Word of God is the resurrection power that raised Jesus, who was physically shattered and marred beyond all recognition, from the dead. Can you imagine it? Beyond that, the sheer immensity of the force that it took to bring Jesus out of spiritual death is beyond natural comprehension. We can only grasp such things with our spirit. For many however, this is where the revelation stops; with Jesus. This is a problem for a lot of believers.
What if I told you that Jesus Himself didn’t intend that to be the case. Romans 8:11a says if the Spirit of Him who raised Christ from the dead dwells in you…the question then becomes, does He? If the answer is yes, then the ramifications of Apostle Paul’s statement are massive. Pause and think it over for a moment. If you are in Christ, then Christ is in you and therefore the power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is currently residing in you.
So what kind of power is it? The power that comes upon you that Jesus referred to in Acts 1:8 is the Holy Spirit Himself. If you have the Spirit of God, you have all the power you need because He and His power are one. Remember just like the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus at His baptism to live in Jesus, the Holy Spirit comes upon us to live in us. All of this happens at the point of salvation. We are baptised into the Spirit and receive His indwelling presence which contains all His attributes including, His power.
When we stir up the Holy Spirit on the inside, He takes over our entire being spirit, soul and body. This is how we generate that same power, by the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, in the place of prayer. Not just any kind of prayer. Praying in the Holy Ghost or in tongues.
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,
Jude 1:20
James 5:16b says the earnest, heartfelt, continued prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working.
Dunamis the Greek word for power in our opening verses literally means dynamite. In other words, explosive power is in Christ and Christ is in you. What does dynamite do? It causes an explosion that completely rearranges things to how you want them to be. This is the power that is working in you! Notice it’s not coming from God in heaven, it’s coming from Christ in you. The best part is you can activate this power whenever you choose to.
This power exceeds what we ask, think or even imagine. My prayer is that I have awakened you to the unlimited powerhouse that is in Christ, in you.
APPLICATION
Get into the habit of making tremendous power available to change circumstances and situations by praying regularly and fervently in the Holy Ghost.
