CHANGE YOUR DEFAULT SETTINGS

Have you ever had factory settings on a device that were activated as a default because of a glitch in the system? This can be a lot like human beings. We customise our settings to what is desirable and when adversity comes, we revert back to what was the original preset.

Do you remember a time when you lost your temper because someone ‘pushed your buttons’ and you reacted in a way that is uncharacteristic to your normal behaviour?

There are two facts to be observed here. Firstly, who you are under pressure is who you really are. Secondly, we do not have the capacity to change the core of who we are except by the Word of God.

The reason is because sin is the default nature of every person. It is only by receiving a new nature we are able to override our negative traits and dominate our mind, will, emotions and body to align with our spirit.

Those who belong to God must reprogram the default settings of the old information in their minds and replace it with information that is consistent with their new ‘default settings’ or new preset, in their recreated human spirit.

Our second verse uses the word ‘perfect’ which is ‘artios’ in Greek. It doesn’t mean flawless or even mature here, but renewed or refreshed. In other words ‘updated.’ God wants us to have the latest version of understanding and the right applications of how to operate the device that is called our life.

With both these scenarios, the good news is anyone can do it with the help of God and His word.

The Bible is clear that ‘whosoever’ believes in the gospel of Jesus Christ will have this new life that will empower them to have new ‘factory settings’ through salvation that match the new ‘default settings’ and will continually be refreshed and updated by His word.
